How would ratifying the Kyoto Protocol affect Australia?

The Australian government has been under renewed pressure lately to ratify the Kyoto Protocol - designed to reduce global greenhouse emissions. But what are the consequences for Australia of ratifying the Protocol? And what if we don't? The US is refusing to sign up - will we really be worse off without it? This month, On Line Opinion sought the views of some parties with a position on the Greenhouse debate.
