Medicare messing with Movember

By John Mikkelsen - posted Thursday, 30 November 2023

"You mean you're going to call her in for a prostate check in 12 months time?"

"Yes," he admits before adding, "Thank goodness for cut and paste!"

We are both still chuckling as he ushers me to the door and I thank him for making my day.

A few days later, I receive a letter from Medicare informing me my registered Safety Net Family is getting close to reaching the safety net threshold for the 2023 calendar year.

"To make sure your family gets the highest Medicare benefits possible, you need to confirm that your family registration details listed below are correct."

They are. But I'm told I have to fill out a form and return it, or call a listed number. That seems easier, but after sitting in an unspecified queue listening to bland repetitive music and not even a recorded robot voice, I hang up.

If today's bureaucrats were blessed with brains, wouldn't they realise it would be much simpler and easier to simply specify contact if any change to the registered information is required?

Yes Minister!
