Children and discipline: how far should we go?
The practice of using corporal discipline on children has declined in popularity in Australia over the latter part of the 20th century. Nonetheless, debate rages about whether the state has any right to decide what forms of discipline a parent can use and, if so, where to draw the lines. In New South Wales, a Private Member's Bill sponsored by Independent MLC Alan Corbett has put the issues in the public spotlight once again.
