Chris Murphy

Chris Murphy is a visiting fellow in Economics (modelling), Australian National University. He specialises in economy-wide modelling of tax policy and macroeconomic policy.

He has consulted to the Australian Treasury modelling tax polices for the Henry Tax Review, the Business Tax Working Group and other tax reviews.

In other consulting work for Treasury, he undertook a department-wide review of its economic modelling capabilities (2016-2017) and was modelling adviser (2019-2021) when Treasury developed a new macroeconomic forecasting model known as EMMA.

More recently, in 2025 Chris was commissioned by the Productivity Commission to model potential changes to the company tax system.
