Wasim El-Haj
Wasim El-Haj is a Palestinian Australian man, born and raised in
Sydney, the son of a Palestinian Nakba survivor who still yearns for
home. He works as a careers adviser both in university and school
settings. In 2024, he was the recipient of the Careers Advisers
Association Careers Adviser of the Year Award in NSW & ACT.
Wasim recently resigned from his position at at Sydney Girls High School
because of what he claims is anti-Palestinian racial discrimination and
victimisation for wearing a keffiyeh as a Palestinian man. This matter
now sits with the Australian Human Rights Commission.
