But it is not just young people attracted to the new politics. The reform of parliamentary superannuation made many people aware that at last we have a political leader who will recognise what is undermining the faith in our political system and do something about it.
I get the same response about the need to reform parliament. The recent evasive political speak game playing by John Howard over election timing has shown the need for fixed term parliaments. This is a position John Howard will never adopt. He is too wedded to the old politics of short-term partisan advantage. Mark Latham has adopted the fixed term proposition.
It is time it was adopted by all our political leaders before our democratic process loses more public confidence as the partisan games go on. Mark Latham has his eyes set on a confident future for all Australians - a future of unity and opportunity. John Howard keeps looking backwards for ideas that divide Australians.

If we can convince Australians that it is safe and rewarding to start to climb Mark Latham’s ladder of opportunity then Labor will win.
