War doesn't decide who is right – only who is left.
We have no idea of what will be left of Russia by the time of the eventual Ukrainian victory. Will it break up (as the Soviet empire broke up after the loss in Afghanistan and the end of the Cold War)? Will areas like Siberia/ Russian Far East (many time zones from Moscow) want to go their own way? Will China go after Russia's resource-rich rear end? Who will get Russia's nuclear weapons?

There is a long shadow that the Ukrainian invasion is casting, well beyond the eventual end of the war.
