Then there are the botched UN ‘peacekeeping’ missions that its members have been drawn into. Somalia was so devastating a failure that it even inspired a movie - Black Hawk Down.
It would be nice if money grew on trees and the Indian government could spend on every cause under UN auspices. But unless Indian taxpayers want to subsidise the American government’s grand plans to use the UN for its own interests, they should investigate cheaper methods to achieve the same objectives in ways aligned with Asian objectives.
Indian foreign policy goals aren’t the same as the Western world. For example, there are good reasons to suggest that India would have been better off staying out of the Korean war (fortunately, India had the sense to remain largely neutral during the two Iraq wars).

Perhaps if India withdrew from the UN and charted its own course in foreign affairs using the principles of armed neutrality, it could also forge goodwill toward more nations.
