Towns die, cities choke, Australia sleeps

By Everald Compton - posted Wednesday, 14 August 2019

As the Constitution does provide for each State to divide itself into smaller States, that can be done easily and Australia can have 50 States instead of six.

This will decentralise Australia magnificently as, obviously, each new State will have a capital city, parliament and public service and will take over the role of current local governments.

The capital will also be a freight hub.

The small towns that surround each chosen capital city will become satellite residential communities with its own service industries.

And new railways will take cars off the roads.

This will just be a start in a new national direction, an awakening from the slumber into which Australia has lamentably descended.

We will acknowledge that the world of 1901, when Australia was founded, no longer exists and Australians are now very different people, very mobile and living in a high tech age that changes daily.

It is time now to decide whether or not we allow the whole nation to decay as we have done so irresponsibly with the bush or begin the greatest revolution in the history of the Australia.

You and I have an opportunity to be leaders of a journey towards 'the light on the hill.'
