David Cropley is Professor of Engineering Innovation at the University of South Australia, specializing in creativity, problem-solving, and technological innovation. With a background in systems engineering, his research explores the role of creativity in fields ranging from engineering and business to crime and cybersecurity. He has advised corporations and government agencies on fostering innovation, diagnosing creative strengths, and applying problem-solving methodologies to complex challenges. His expertise has also extended to media projects, serving as a consultant and on-screen expert for TV series such as Redesign My Brain and Life at 9, where he examined the neuroscience of creativity and cognitive flexibility.

An internationally recognized author, David has published extensively on creativity and innovation, including Creativity in Engineering (2015) and Creativity and Crime: A Psychological Analysis (2013), which investigates the darker side of creative thinking. His latest book, The Psychology of Innovation in Organizations (2023), examines the cognitive and cultural factors that drive-or hinder-innovation in businesses and institutions. He has also explored gender and problem-solving in Femina Problematis Solvendis: Problem Solving Woman (2020), which challenges traditional narratives about women's contributions to creativity and innovation.
