Sonia Caton

Sonia Caton is a lawyer and registered as a migration agent. She is a past Director and Principal Solicitor of the Refugee and Immigration Legal Service in Brisbane (RAILS). Under her leadership RAILS was awarded the national Human Rights Award for a "Community Organisation". She continues to volunteer for RAILS whilst serving on a number of boards, including Chairing the Refugee Council of Australia, sitting on the Advisory Board to Migration Agents Registration Authority, International Education Services Ltd and the Greencross Australia Advisory Panel.

Sonia was instrumental in establishing the Community Placement Network - a project that places asylum seekers in Australian homes.

In addition to her board work she lectures in law and is a consultant to various community organisations working with asylum seekers and refugees. She is also a contributor to Department of Immigration convened consultative committees.
