Kate Marsh

Kate Marsh is the Public Liaison Officer for Children by Choice, a pro-choice counselling, information and advocacy service for women facing unplanned pregnancy. The group is Brisbane-based and provides counselling for women Queensland-wide, as well as offering sexuality education modules in schools and professional development sessions on unplanned pregnancy options to health professionals. More information about their work is available on their website at www.childrenbychoice.org.au.

Kate’s work at Children by Choice involves policy and political advocacy around unplanned pregnancy issues at both a state and a federal level, and she has been very active in the campaign to decriminalise abortion in Queensland. In 2008, Kate founded Pro Choice Qld, a group of organisations and individuals who campaign collectively to reform abortion law, which she still coordinates (more info at www.prochoiceqld.org.au). She is also a member of the Young Women’s Advisory Group to the Equality Rights Alliance, Australia’s largest organisational network of women’s advocates.
