Geoff Hines
Geoff Hines originally commenced his career as a Schoolmaster but soon moved into personnel and production management with the leading food company, Mars, in the UK. There, he gained substantial experience before being transferred to Australia in 1975 as Personnel Director of Uncle Ben’s of Australia. He arrived in Queensland in 1979 to head up Personnel, Industrial Relations and Public Affairs for MIM Holdings Ltd, a major natural resource company. He has been in executive search and recruitment in Queensland since 1983 when he founded the firm of Hines Management Consultants.
Geoff has had over thirty-five years’ experience of executive search and advertised recruitment gained in Australia, the UK, North and South America, South Africa and Europe. He has been particularly active in natural resources, consumer goods, the banking and finance industries, as well as the arts and education.
He has a Master of Arts degree in Chemistry and a Diploma in Education from Trinity College, Oxford and is an Alumnus of the London Business School. At Oxford he gained two blues for rugby football and was an England Trialist. Later, he represented Rhodesia in the Currie Cup.
Geoff is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Directors, A Life Fellow and past President of the Australian Institute of Management (Qld Division), a Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development (UK) and a Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute. He is on the Boards of a number of business, educational and artistic organisations.
He is very active in the performing arts field, both as a performer and an administrator, and has a strong interest in the management of artistic enterprises. He sings bass in the Sanctuary and Brisbane Concert Choirs of Saint Andrew’s on Creek Uniting Church and is a past Chairman of the Parish Council. For nearly six years he was the Chairman of the Lyric Opera of Queensland. Geoff also enjoys golf, rugby football and entertaining.
