The world is increasingly beset by looming clouds of war

By Chin Jin - posted Thursday, 6 April 2023

At that time, they were blindly pleasing Beijing, wishfully thinking that Beijing would be influenced by the United States and take the 'correct path' of democratization. Facts have now proved that the CCP is stubborn and hopeless, so there is no need for the U.S. to continue to remain entangled in the results of its own wrong policies, and policy amendments should be made.

Since Beijing can tear up the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration and destroy Hong Kong's 'One country, two systems', the US should encourage the UK to resume negotiations with Beijing and demand the recovery of Hong Kong's sovereignty, ceded to the UK by the Qing Dynasty. Only in this way can Beijing's rampant behaviour in Hong Kong be effectively curbed.

The United States should abandon the impartial veil it gave Beijing in the past, and come clean and tell Beijing that the three communiqués serve the strategic needs of containing the Soviet Union, and also cover the guarantee of peace across the Taiwan Strait.

The purpose of maintaining the three communiqués was to guide and persuade the CCP to take the right path. Now that the Soviet Union has disintegrated and the first strategic goal has been achieved, Xi Jinping stubbornly insists on his "Community of Common Destiny for Mankind" to rule the world with his autocratic dictatorship. The US might say sorry to Beijing but discontinue the former policies favouring Beijing, even if these might cause some suffering and loss. The CCP itself has set the tone that the three communiqués can be discarded.

At this moment, Taiwan is also engaged in a political tug-of-war, and President Tsai Ing-wen is going to meet with the US Speaker McCarthy on the way to visit South America. Suddenly Ma Ying-jeou is also visiting mainland China to worship his ancestors. Apparently this is Beijing's tactic. Honduras' sudden move to recognize Beijing is an international political tug-of-war between the US and China. Even if the ROC loses all diplomatic recognition, the ROC is still the ROC. As long as all the people are united as one, the Republic of China will still stand firm.

The world is increasingly beset by looming clouds of war, and the world is becoming dangerous. On the one hand, Russia and China are sharpening their knives, trying to win at all costs and leading the great changes of a century to dominate the world. On the other side are Western leaders who are powerful enough to crush their opponents, but are lacking in clarity, courage, moral fibre and backbone. Further, they are hamstrung by chaotic and opportunistic political consciousness, especially that prevailing in the present White House of the United States.
