Sensible public projects? Tell 'em they're dreamin'

That project was not the only white elephant that the fictional authority was forced to grapple with. A list of fantasy projects compiled during a school visit was accidentally circulated, and Rod had to work hard to persuade the politicians that the NBA was not about to build a space port, or a giant water slide.

“Don’t they have them in Queensland?” asks the clueless assistant who circulated the list.

The eight priceless episodes of Utopia ended with a look at the whitest of white elephants in Australia, the Ord River project which, sure enough, it gets stuck with developing. I hope there is a second series.
