Men and women all over the world are protesting the release of West’s music video, and in response many others have been riled with anger, assuming that the moral police are out to silence them.
To those who roll their eyes and suggest that we should get over it and simply “don’t watch it if it offends you”, you are turning a blind eye to damage that can be done by condoning erotic violence.

To the noble campaigners for free speech who claim that banning this video will inhibit freedom of artistic expression, are you also noble enough to care about the freedom of women against violence?
Violence against women is not entertainment. It never was, and it never will be.
And using a woman as an object in a violent sexual fantasyis not manly, and never will be.
This is not a matter of being prudish and conservative - it is a matter of respecting the rights of women to be treated like human beings, and the right for boys to grow up in a world where they do not feel a need to demean women in order to be a real man.
