Dear Ms Beckett,

I refer to your e-mail dated 30 April 2007 addressed to the His Honour Chief Magistrate Henson. His Honour has requested that I respond on his behalf.

It would be inappropriate for the Chief Magistrate to consider your request. It would appear that section 28 sub-section 4 of the Crimes (Sentencing Procedure) Act 1999 precludes you from making a victim impact statement in this matter. I suggest that you seek guidance from your legal representative as to any avenues tha may be open to you.

Apart from the forgoing I regret that I am unable to assist you further.

Yours faithfully,

Jacinta Haywood
